Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is celebrating 150 years of service to the community. Founded in 1872, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital was the first hospital in the Wyoming Valley. Every year, we take care of thousands of patients and families across Northeastern Pennsylvania. From primary care to more than 60 medical specialties, as well as acute care and specialty hospitals, and walk-in clinics, our commitment to our patients is unwavering. We also contribute significantly to the economic health of the community – employing thousands of people, paying taxes, and donating to charities.
